1001 Nature Experiences

The Danish Society for Nature Conservation (DN), Danish Hunters Association (DJ) and The Danish Sport Fishing Association (DSF) want to bring children closer to nature. With project “1001 Nature Experiences” we want to inspire more children to connect with nature thus strengthening their nature education and awareness.
We aim to do this by:

  • providing a basic course for adults to train as nature guides for children,
  • training more parents, grandparents, young people and volunteers as nature guides to introduce and connect their children with nature,
  • establishing an online platform to bring all nature activities and events under one hat, making it easy for families with young children to take their first step into nature.

It is a problem that children are not generally introduced to nature experiences, and it should be made easier for parents to look up nature activities online. Still, not enough parents are ready and prepared to arrange their family gatherings in the outdoors.
Thus, the relevance of and timing of the “1001 Nature Experiences project” is optimal. The project will contribute to the introduction of and increased interest in nature experiences to families with young children by offering easily accessible outings and showing them how nature can be used for many different activities.
“1001 Nature Experiences” is an ambitious project aiming to bring together the green and marine environment organisations and inspire them and the public to communicate about nature at children’s level and at the same time bring all nature activities and events under one hat, so families with young children have an easy time taking their first step into nature. The combination of nature education and nature gathering events on an accessible online platform is a step forward and will make a significant difference and be an inspiration to families and their experiences of nature for many years to come.
