Koltur – Nature Reserve and Field Station

Due to the relatively few studies on Faroese biodiversity, any research conducted on the islands aids in filling a large geographical knowledge gap with regard to the ecology of the North Atlantic.

Koltur will serve as the first nature reserve together with the first research field station in the Faroe Islands, for the benefit of both the public and scientific community. Project outputs for the general public includes increased awareness for and connectedness to nature in the Faroes, as well as increased awareness of the importance of nature restoration.

On a scientific level, the project will be presented nationally and internationally.
