Arter.dk
It is the first time in the history of Denmark that a web-based database has been established with the aim of covering a wide range of different Danish species. The new website, Arter.dk, and the associated app will provide optimal conditions for the mapping of Danish biodiversity. Citizens, researchers, and managers can now work together to collect and share knowledge about the habitats of Danish species.
The development of the website Arter.dk is supported financially by the Aage V. Jensen Nature Foundation in collaboration with the 15. Juni Foundation. The Danish Environmental Protection Agency also contributes financially to both development and operation of the website. The Norwegian Natural History Museum and the Danish Environmental Protection Agency have established a working relationship regarding the gathering of data and identifying stakeholders, knowledge which will be accessible to the benefit of all of us.
Furthermore, The Natural History Museum Aarhus contributes to the management of day-to-day tasks. Thus, while researchers and the Danish public get access to updated knowledge on biodiversity, public authorities on local and state levels can obtain a quick and freely available overview of the existence of species, thus ensuring the best basis for the protection of Danish nature.
